Too many great sounding gigging amps it seems are terrible for bedroom practicing because of their sensitive volume controls with massive jumps early on in the volume controls rotation.
Place this handy tool between your amps 'send' and 'return' jacks (or similar) and it'll give you that extra control you need to find that sweet spot every time.

As recommended by Keld Ampworks I'm running the attenuator at end of my FX Loop chain such that I can push the pre-amp to its sweet spot in terms of saturation. Works a treat, built like a (very tiny) tank and an ideal solution if you've got an amp you want to tame. Highly recommended.
Timely delivery, very nicely engineered and compact attenuator I use on a pedalboard to interface the Effects send on a Blackstar St. James guitar combo to a pedalboard. The pot on the attenuator has just the right amount of resistance and a smooth gain range. Only possible recommendation would be to add some markers so the pot position is recallable. Sound quality is not affected by attenuation level. Highly recommended.
If you have an effects loop you should try a passive attenuator. Fall in love with your amp all over again. It brings the overdriven tone out of your amp at acceptable levels. It's an incredibly simple unit but I think you'd struggle to build one for cheaper than this without the hassle. Ordered it Friday lunchtime and it was on my doorstep the next morning.

Allows me to run my little Joyo Bantamp head at a reasonable volume without having to adjust the angle of the volume knobs by nanometres. Also gives me a master volume on what was a two channel amp. About as simple and effective as a pedal can be.
